Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar met a visiting inter-ministerial central team in Bengaluru on October 3 to discuss drought and crop losses. The team is led by Agriculture Ministry joint secretary Ajit Kumar Sahu. The chief minister’s public announcement, reproduced in ANI’s October 3 reporting, and a separate Samyukta Karnataka report confirmed the meeting.

Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara separately told reporters that losses could eventually total ₹50,000–60,000 crore. PTI reported his statement that assessments covering 177 taluks had already identified roughly ₹46,000 crore in losses, while work continued in another 40. These are state estimates, not an announced central relief allocation.

The visiting officials are to inspect affected areas in three groups. Samyukta Karnataka reported that the programme runs through October 6, covering districts in southern, central and northern Karnataka. Parameshwara said a final memorandum would follow the remaining assessments and central inspections. The amount of assistance to be approved was not established by Saturday’s briefing.
