Bihar's Cabinet approved a ₹2,761.55-crore package for solarising agricultural electricity feeders at its September 30 meeting. The official meeting record, read alongside UNI's reporting, sets out support for proposed solar plants with a combined capacity of 2,585 megawatts serving the remaining 2,554 agricultural feeders.
The approved amount comprises ₹2,714.25 crore in grants, calculated at ₹1.05 crore per megawatt, and ₹47.30 crore in incentives for gram panchayats associated with implementation at 946 electricity substations. The figures refer to the approved package, not money already paid or generating capacity already installed.
The same meeting also approved the draft Bihar Green Hydrogen Policy, 2026. UNI and Prabhat Khabar reported the policy decision. The Cabinet document records approval of the draft; it does not by itself establish that every proposed incentive is available for applications or that projects have begun production.
The meeting took place at 4 pm in Patna under Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary. Implementation, construction and any subsequent operational announcements will determine when the approved energy measures reach users. The Cabinet summary does not specify a commissioning date for the solar plants.
