India launched National PNG Drive 3.0 on October 1, setting targets for 50 lakh new domestic piped-gas connections, activation of 40 lakh existing connections and 50 lakh additional registrations. The campaign runs until March 31, 2027. These are separate targets announced for the drive, rather than connections already delivered.
Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri launched the initiative at the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board’s foundation-day event in New Delhi. The ministry, regulator, city-gas distributors and oil-marketing companies will participate. The stated priorities include putting unused connections into service and extending access in semi-urban and rural areas.
The regulator also introduced MyPNG, a national consumer portal intended to simplify access to information and interactions with gas-distribution companies. The ministry said the preceding January–June campaign had added about 12.10 lakh connections and generated 15.31 lakh registrations.
Petroleum Secretary Neeraj Mittal urged the sector to judge progress through actual gas use and household connections, alongside infrastructure construction. The launch therefore sets an implementation test: turning registrations and available networks into households receiving and using a dependable gas supply.
