Small-savings interest rates remain unchanged for the quarter beginning October 1 and ending December 31, following the Finance Ministry’s September 30 decision. The Department of Economic Affairs lists the new-quarter notice, and PTI and independent business reports confirm continuation of the previous quarter’s rates.
The annual rates are 7.1% for the Public Provident Fund, 8.2% for both Sukanya Samriddhi and the Senior Citizens Savings Scheme, and 7.7% for National Savings Certificates. The Monthly Income Account rate remains 7.4%; the five-year post-office recurring deposit rate is 6.7%.
The reproduced September 30 memorandum specifies the October–December period and leaves it unchanged from July–September. This is a fresh quarterly decision, not an interest-rate increase or a promise that rates will stay unchanged indefinitely. The notification does not alter every product’s eligibility, maturity, withdrawal or tax rules, which remain separate from the rates reported here.
