Punjab police arrested two former Chitkara University students on October 2 over unrest at its Rajpura campus. The Indian Express quoted Patiala police chief Harmandeep Singh Hans; The New Indian Express separately confirmed the arrests.

Investigators allege the men spread misleading messages in social-media groups that helped provoke the gathering. The unrest occurred on September 25–26, while the FIR was registered on September 29. These earlier events are the background to Friday’s arrests.

Police said the case includes alleged damage to two police vehicles and an assault on an officer. The reported charges include attempted murder, unlawful assembly and obstructing public servants. Teams have been sent to find ten other people named in the FIR.

The campus claims concerning missing students remained unverified in the reporting reviewed. Neither arrest establishes responsibility for the violence. The October 2 accounts included no response from the arrested men or court finding on their alleged role.
