The Delhi High Court on September 30 granted Ajay Kumar, also known as Doctor, bail in a robbery-murder case. Justice Girish Kathpalia ordered a ₹20,000 personal bond and one surety for the same amount.
The five-page order records the prosecution's allegation that the applicant surveyed the location and passed information to others. The State opposed bail, citing phone contacts, location data, an alleged hotel stay and cash recovered from him. His lawyer disputed the evidence supporting continued custody.
The court questioned whether investigators had established who used the relevant phone and noted that the hotel's guest register had not been seized. It also found that possession of ₹1.5 lakh did not, by itself, connect the applicant to the robbery.
The observations are confined to bail; the trial court will assess the evidence independently. This is not an acquittal.
