Gandhinagar Civil Hospital reported 24 confirmed dengue cases among personnel preparing for the National Unity Day parade. Resident Medical Officer Vipula Pandya told IANS on October 2 that five more people had been admitted by about 5 pm that day, including one confirmed case. The earlier group admitted on Thursday included 23 positive cases.

Pandya said about ten patients had been discharged and those still being treated were stable, without complications at that point. NDTV’s October 3 staff report also recorded the additional admissions and said public-health teams had been alerted. The figures describe this group and reporting period, not all dengue cases in Gandhinagar.

The personnel had travelled from several states for preparations linked to the October 31 parade at Ekta Nagar. Many were staying together, but Pandya did not identify their accommodation as the infection source. An epidemiological assessment was still needed; shared lodging alone does not establish where the infections occurred.
