A 12-year-old boy, Abdullah, and his uncle Mohd Sufiyan, 33, say they were assaulted near Badi Kali Mandir in Lucknow’s Chowk area during the night of September 21–22. Their accounts were recorded by FOEJ Media and Sufiyan was interviewed separately by Maktoob on September 27. The family alleges that stones were thrown at their house and a nearby mosque. These are allegations under investigation, not judicial findings about the people accused.
Abdullah told FOEJ that youths first asked him to fetch cigarettes and, after he refused, demanded that he chant “Jai Shri Ram”. He said one person slapped him and another struck his head with a metal bangle. In his separate interview with Maktoob, Sufiyan recounted what the boy had told him and said the boy had gone out to buy household items. The precise exchange and the alleged religious demand have not been independently established by a police finding or court.
The family says a crowd followed Abdullah home, threw stones at the house and mosque, and that relatives locked themselves inside. Sufiyan said he was away, received a call from the family, returned and was beaten by people outside; he reported a head injury requiring eight stitches. Maktoob also reported the boy suffered a head injury. The crowd estimates of roughly 200–300 and the account of damage come from the complainants and reports of their complaint; no independent count or damage assessment was available at this cutoff.
Maktoob reported that it examined a first information report registered by Chowk police on Sufiyan’s complaint. It listed five named suspects and 200–300 unidentified people under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita provisions including rioting, causing hurt, criminal intimidation and mischief. Other outlets also reported the FIR, but their spellings and lists of named people differ, so this report does not identify accused individuals from conflicting secondary accounts. An FIR records an accusation and opens investigation; it does not establish guilt.
Sufiyan alleged to Maktoob that the police had not taken sufficient action and that he feared for his family. Maktoob said it called Chowk police station several times but received no response. The family also described a separate dispute over claims about land under the mosque; its construction date, land title and any connection to the alleged assault have not been independently verified. The report therefore does not present that proposed motive as established fact.
FOEJ’s post was published on September 26; Maktoob dates the incident to the night of September 21, while another repost describes it as late on September 22. This report uses the overnight September 21–22 window and keeps that discrepancy visible. As of the September 29 review, a direct police statement, the full FIR copy, medical records, arrests and any court outcome were not available to Asal Sach. Any later official account or findings should be assessed against the family’s claims and the FIR.
