The Reserve Bank of India announced on October 2 that Sudhakar Malli had become an executive director with effect from October 1. Its press release assigns him responsibility for the Department of Supervision’s supervisory-assessment work.
Malli previously served as chief general manager-in-charge of the same department. The RBI says his central-banking career spans around three decades, including more than 25 years supervising banks, non-bank lenders and co-operative banks.
Business Standard’s October 2 report corroborates the appointment and portfolio. The official release also records overseas supervisory experience and work in currency management. This is a personnel announcement; it does not announce a change in interest rates or new rules for customers.
