Punjab police reported 242 arrests after searches at 566 locations on September 30 during the state's continuing anti-gang campaign. The department said district teams worked with the Anti-Gangster Task Force at premises it had identified as linked to suspected associates of criminal groups. The day's reported recoveries included five weapons.

Police also said they took preventive action against 182 people and apprehended ten proclaimed offenders. These categories should not automatically be added together as a count of different individuals: the published accounts do not explain whether the ten are included in the main arrest total. Preventive action also does not by itself establish a criminal conviction.

The operation was described as day 253 of Gangstran Te Vaar, the campaign launched on January 20. Police put cumulative arrests under that campaign at 74,979. This report concerns the September 30 operations; the previous day's figures covered a separate round of searches and arrests.

In a separate anti-drug update issued the same day, police reported 114 arrests and recoveries including 3.8 kilograms of heroin, 250 grams of opium and eight kilograms of cannabis. Those are departmental claims about another campaign. The reviewed accounts did not provide individual court decisions, defence responses or a case-by-case breakdown, so they do not establish the guilt of everyone detained.
