Adani Airport Holdings outlined its phased Mumbai Terminal 1 redevelopment plan in an October 3 statement. The operator said work would begin in January 2027 with the north section of Terminal 1B, citing safety concerns about the ageing building. Mid-day and PTI reported the statement that evening.

The company estimates that the affected section handles about five million passengers annually, roughly 9% of Mumbai airport’s traffic. Its assertion that 91% would remain unaffected is a forecast, not a verified account of future disruption. It described relocation to Navi Mumbai as temporary and said historic airline slots would be restored after redevelopment.

The clarification follows airline concerns. An earlier PTI account described Air France-KLM’s September 30 objection to splitting operations between the airports and IATA’s September 9 request for an agreed transition framework protecting established slots. AAHL said consultations had continued since 2020 and that safety required action.

Mid-day’s October 3 report said airlines would inform passengers booked after October 25 of any changes as operations are phased out. The January 2027 date concerns redevelopment work; it should not be read as a guarantee that flight arrangements remain unchanged until then.
