Earlier that day, access around the mosque was restricted. Hindustan’s September 29 report described barricades, checks of residents’ identity documents and shops remaining closed. Police and Provincial Armed Constabulary personnel were deployed as authorities sought to prevent confrontation.
The Times of India’s September 30 account linked the tension to objections over construction at the mosque. Community representative Badar Ali said the committee had agreed to halt work when police intervened and appealed for calm. Traders had questioned whether the required permissions existed; the mosque committee disputed their allegations.
Superintendent of Police (City) Vinayak Gopal Bhosale told PTI, in The New Indian Express’s September 29 report, that personnel and patrols had been increased to maintain order. The reviewed reports establish restrictions and cancellation of the gathering, but do not settle the construction’s legality or establish a demolition. How long the restrictions lasted remains unconfirmed.
