The Army’s Chinar Corps said on September 30 that a morning search in Budgam’s Palmaidan area recovered the body of Mohammad Asif, also known as Hashim Moosa. The statement described him as affiliated with Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. That identification is the Army’s account and has not been independently established here.
The recovery followed a joint operation by the Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and CRPF in Korag near Yousmarg on September 29. In its first statement, Chinar Corps said troops launched a search on intelligence information and that suspects fired when challenged. It reported one person killed in the ensuing exchange.
NDTV’s September 30 report corroborated the announcement of the joint operation. Its early account used a different name. This report follows the later official identification without treating all aliases appearing in initial coverage as interchangeable.
The September 30 Army update also reported recovering military-related material but did not provide an itemised inventory in the statement checked. It said the operation remained underway. Neither of the two verified Army statements specified involvement in the Pahalgam or Reasi attacks, so those claims are not included.
