Congress appointed Aradhana Mishra Mona as president of its Uttar Pradesh unit on October 2, replacing Ajay Rai. Saharanpur MP Imran Masood was named working president. The Times of India’s account of the party statement says the appointments take immediate effect.
The same announcement named Devinder Nishad and Alok Prasad as senior vice presidents. Chaudhary Virendra Singh was appointed leader of the Congress Legislature Party in Uttar Pradesh, separating that responsibility from Mishra’s new organisational post.
Mishra represents Rampur Khas in Pratapgarh and had served as the party’s legislature leader. The Indian Express’s October 2 report places the change within a wider reorganisation before the state’s 2027 Assembly election. Rai had led the state unit since August 2023.
The confirmed development is the appointment of a new leadership team. It does not itself settle election candidatures or alliance arrangements; those were not announced in the reports reviewed.
