Police detained protesters in Lucknow on October 2 during a march opposing electoral-roll revision, The Wire reported. Participants demanded Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.
Protesters were taken from Parivartan Chowk towards Eco Garden. Students alleged rough treatment during the detentions.
The Wire said police had not provided a substantive response when approached. The Election Commission has defended its revision process; protesters’ allegations are not established findings.
