Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid foundation stones for the Rayalaseema Global Horticulture Hub and Indian School of Agriculture at Madanapalle on October 2. Akashvani confirmed the ceremony in Annamayya district.

The Times of India, citing an official release, reported a three-phase programme with estimated investment of about ₹1 lakh crore. Development is planned across ten districts.

The same report put the proposed government contribution at ₹40,352 crore, with about ₹60,000 crore expected from private investors. That distinction matters: the overall estimate includes money to be mobilised and should not be read as expenditure already completed.

Akashvani reported Sitharaman’s emphasis on water management, technology and infrastructure to improve farming opportunities. She said the agriculture school would support scientific methods and research. The ceremony begins an implementation process; construction progress, funding commitments and eventual results will need separate verification.
