Bengaluru police alleged that a man and two friends staged his kidnapping to demand ₹90 lakh from his father. The Times of India reported the deputy commissioner’s account on October 2.
Investigators traced the group to Hassan on Thursday after ransom calls prompted a police complaint.
An earlier Indian Express report said investigators had not yet settled the man’s role. The later police allegation remains subject to investigation, not a finding of guilt.
