Nasir and Junaid, residents of Rajasthan, disappeared on 15 February 2023. Their burned bodies were found the following day in Haryana’s Bhiwani district. Police alleged that cow vigilantes abducted and assaulted them; Monu Manesar was accused of involvement in the conspiracy.
On 5 March 2026, the Rajasthan High Court granted Manesar conditional bail. It considered his lengthy custody, bail already granted to a co-accused and the fact that none of 74 listed prosecution witnesses had been examined by then. His lawyers alleged false implication; the prosecutor and complainant’s counsel opposed release.
The court required attendance at hearings and periodic police-station reporting, and expressly confined its observations to bail. A relative of Nasir said the families feared pressure after the release. These fears are attributed to the family; the bail decision neither acquits Manesar nor proves the prosecution’s allegations.
