Saikun Khan, a 40-year-old Muslim man, died following a stone attack near Baroda Meo police station in Rajasthan's Alwar district on September 24. Inspector Rajkumar said Harsh Moortikar allegedly pulled Khan from his motorcycle and attacked him that morning. Police said the suspect was arrested and brought before a magistrate.
Khan's family alleges that his religious identity made him a target. Protesters demanded an investigation, compensation and action against personnel at the station. A resident, Tariq, also alleged that officers could see the assault but failed to stop it. Police denied that account, saying the location was not visible from inside the station and that they responded after learning of the attack.
Alwar police superintendent Sudheer Choudhary rejected a communal motive, describing the assault as apparently unprovoked.
