India and Switzerland exchanged cooperation agreements on October 5 after Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Swiss President Guy Parmelin held talks at Hyderabad House in New Delhi. ANI and public broadcaster Akashvani reported the exchange and Modi’s subsequent joint press appearance during the opening day of Parmelin’s three-day state visit.

Akashvani said the documents covered transport technology and included research arrangements linking India’s Department of Science and Technology with the Swiss National Science Foundation and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences. Modi also announced migration and young-professional agreements, according to ANI. The reviewed reports do not set out application procedures or establish that new entry or work entitlements are already available.

Modi presented the engagement as part of the India–European Free Trade Association partnership. He reiterated its ambition to bring 100 billion US dollars of investment and ten lakh direct jobs to India over 15 years. Those are the broader pact’s long-term objectives, not a newly delivered Swiss investment or jobs already created by Monday’s meeting.

The Swiss government’s October 1 visit announcement dates the trade pact’s entry into force to October 1, 2025, and places investment, research and innovation among the priorities for this trip. Parmelin began Monday with a reception attended by President Droupadi Murmu and Modi. His programme also includes the India–EFTA Prosperity Summit on October 7; that event remains ahead of the current talks.
