Four Central Industrial Security Force personnel died after a colleague allegedly opened fire at a security unit in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on the evening of September 29. NDTV and The Statesman reported the incident that night, citing sources and officials.
The shooting took place at the Sewa hydroelectric project in the Basohli area. The dead included an assistant commandant, a sub-inspector and two constables. NDTV reported that the injured personnel were taken to a hospital in Himachal Pradesh and later died.
According to the CISF account carried by The Statesman, the accused head constable was overpowered and handed to police, while the force was setting up an internal inquiry. NDTV also reported his arrest. The police investigation and the force’s internal process are separate proceedings.
