Three members of a family, including two children, died in floodwaters in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur district on October 3. PTI's report, carried by the Indian Express, and Amar Ujala's local reporting agree on the three deaths and say the family had gone to inspect agricultural land affected by flooding.
Amar Ujala reported that residents sought help from local divers after learning of the incident. The three were recovered and taken to a local community health centre, where doctors declared them dead. Police sent the bodies for post-mortem examination. District and local administrative officers reached the area to gather information about the incident.
The early reports describe relatives entering the water in an attempt to help one another, but differ over which child slipped first and the order of the attempted rescue. That sequence remains unconfirmed. Names and other identifying family details have been withheld to protect the children's privacy.
