Two Bombay High Court judges inspected a site in Maharashtra on October 2 as they heard appeals arising from a child sexual-violence and murder case. Loksatta reported the visit that evening; Pudhari also reported it on October 3. Police officers connected with the investigation were present, according to the reports.
The court’s September 22 order had scheduled the inspection to help the bench understand locations, distances and witness testimony already in the trial record. Prosecutors and defence lawyers had not objected. The order permitted counsel to attend and said both sides could make further submissions afterwards.
The proceedings include challenges to convictions and death sentences, alongside the state’s request for confirmation of those sentences. The site visit was a step in examining existing evidence. It did not, by itself, confirm or overturn a conviction or sentence.
The reviewed sources report no final appeal ruling or published findings from the inspection. Any change in the legal outcome will require a subsequent court decision.
