Pakistan summoned India’s chargé d’affaires on October 3 to protest the deaths of two men in Border Security Force firing along the international border a day earlier. Its Foreign Ministry said the meeting concerned the Bedian sector and demanded an investigation. The summons is a new diplomatic step following the October 2 incident.
Pakistan’s ministry described the men as unarmed civilians and rejected their characterisation as infiltrators. It asked India to investigate transparently, act against anyone found responsible and share the findings. India’s public broadcaster Akashvani, citing BSF sources on October 2, gave a different account: the men had crossed into Indian territory and continued advancing despite warnings. These are competing official accounts; neither establishes the men’s intentions independently.
Reuters also reported the summons on October 3 and said India’s External Affairs Ministry and the BSF had not immediately answered its requests for comment. The new statement does not resolve the circumstances of the firing or establish that an inquiry has begun.
