A special POCSO court in Odisha’s Sundargarh district convicted two adults and sentenced them to life imprisonment on September 30 in a child-abduction and gang-rape case. OrissaPOST, OMMCOM and Prameya separately reported the court outcome. The case concerns an offence from April 2025.
The court imposed fines of ₹30,000 each on Ankit Apat and Lulendu Naik and directed the District Legal Services Authority to provide ₹10 lakh compensation to the survivor, according to the reports. The compensation direction does not establish that payment has already been made.
Proceedings concerning a juvenile accused remain separate and pending; the adult verdict must not be treated as a finding against that child. The signed judgment, any defence response after sentencing and an appeal were not available in the reviewed material. Details that could identify the survivor or juvenile are withheld.
