An Agra court granted bail to six Congress workers on October 3 in the case concerning alleged defacement of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s family home. The Times of India and PTI’s Hindi service, published by IBC24, reported the order that evening.
Defence lawyer Santosh Dixit said the workers furnished sureties of ₹20,000 each. He said police had failed to support the attempted-murder allegation after the court sought the evidence for invoking it.
The Times of India quoted Dixit as saying that provision had been dropped. The case followed a September 28 protest; the six were arrested the next day. Police had also alleged other offences, including rioting and assault on a public servant.
Bail does not resolve those allegations. The written order was not available in the material reviewed, and the account of the disputed charge’s removal is attributed to the defence.
