Police in Bihar’s Saran district said on October 4 that three people had died and another was injured after two groups clashed with knives in the Ekma police-station area overnight on October 3–4. Separate reports by PTI and The Times of India place the violence on Saturday night, with the latter specifying late night.

Senior Superintendent of Police Roshan Kumar told PTI that six people had been detained for questioning, a case had been registered and the bodies sent for post-mortem examination. Detention for questioning is not a conviction or a finding that each person took part in the killings.

In separate reporting, Amar Ujala quoted Saran Range Deputy Inspector General Nilesh Kumar on the three deaths and one injured person receiving treatment in Patna. It reported that a special investigation team had been formed. Police were examining an earlier dispute and an alleged argument by phone.

The cause and precise sequence remain under investigation. Reports also describe alleged further violence at a treatment facility, but its circumstances were not independently established in the reviewed material. No original FIR, post-mortem report or court finding was available for review.
