Bhubaneswar police have registered a case after a woman alleged that a masked intruder entered her residence and raped her while threatening her with a gun on Wednesday night, September 30. Police disclosed the complaint and investigation on Thursday, October 1.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Saravana Vivek M said senior officers had visited the location and investigators were working to identify the suspect. PTI’s account and separate reporting by The Times of India corroborate the investigation. The newspaper also quoted the DCP as saying police had obtained clues.

The circumstances and the identity of the person responsible remain under investigation. An allegation in a complaint is not a finding of guilt. This report does not identify a suspect or assert a confirmed arrest. Asal Sach is withholding the survivor’s name, occupation, precise locality, family details and other information that could reveal her identity.
