Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court sent Navpreet Singh to ten days of police custody on October 3, after his deportation from Türkiye. ANI's court report confirms that the remand was granted, while IANS separately reported the decision and the defence's objection. This is a further judicial development after the earlier announcement that Singh had been brought back to India.
Police told the court that investigators needed to take Singh to Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab. They said a chargesheet had already been filed in the narcotics case and sought to examine his alleged connections with other accused. The requested travel and questioning are investigative steps; the reports do not establish that the proposed visits have already taken place.
Defence lawyer Asgar Khan told IANS that Singh's statement had already been recorded and argued that the inquiry could continue without further custodial interrogation. The court nevertheless approved the remand. Investigators' allegations about Singh's role in an international drug network remain to be tested through legal proceedings; the custody order is not a conviction.
