Friday prayers were held peacefully in Ujjain on October 2, the Free Press Journal reported in its 5:16 pm IST update. Security remained heavy around Shahi Masjid following the dispute over partial removal for road widening.

Navbharat Live’s afternoon report described barricades extending roughly 500 metres from the mosque and controlled access on surrounding roads. It said additional personnel and checkpoints were deployed for the Friday prayer period, with movement restricted as required.

The Free Press Journal attributed deployment of RAF, STF and CRPF personnel, eight drones and about 100 cameras to the security arrangements. Superintendent of Police Pradeep Sharma said authorities were maintaining contact with Muslim religious leaders.

The October 2 development is the conduct of Friday worship under continuing controls. It follows September 28 unrest and October 1 damage during minaret removal. A peaceful prayer period does not, by itself, resolve residents’ concerns about the removal or establish that access restrictions have ended.
