The Centre announced on October 4 that 897 long-pending grievances from super-senior pensioners and family pensioners would be taken up at the 17th Pension Adalat in New Delhi on October 5. The complaints concern 24 ministries and departments and were filed on the CPENGRAMS pension-grievance portal, the Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare said. The announcement schedules consideration of the cases; it does not report that these grievances have already been settled.

Minister of State Jitendra Singh is due to chair the proceedings at the T. N. Chaturvedi Memorial Hall of the Indian Institute of Public Administration. ANI, in a report carried by NewKerala on October 4, confirmed the venue and the focus on these two pensioner groups. The session is part of an existing administrative grievance-resolution programme, rather than a newly announced pension benefit.

Complainants and their relatives from across the country are to be offered participation either in person or through video conferencing. IANS, in its October 4 dispatch carried by City Air News, reported those arrangements. The ministry’s notice does not provide a public joining link, a session start time or instructions for adding fresh complaints to the 897 already selected.

The department says Pension Adalats bring the authorities concerned with a grievance together so that long-running problems can be addressed without lengthy and expensive court proceedings. That is the programme’s stated purpose. Whether a particular complaint is resolved, and whether any resulting payment reaches the pensioner, will depend on the individual case and subsequent action.

For the previous 16 editions since 2017, the ministry reported 20,676 on-the-spot resolutions from 28,797 grievances considered, approximately 72 per cent. It also said the remaining cases were addressed later through inter-ministerial review meetings. These are the department’s cumulative figures, repeated in the agency coverage, rather than an independently audited assessment or a forecast of Monday’s results.

The October 5 programme also includes the planned release of information about cases handled at the 16th Pension Adalat on May 13, 2026, and a frequently asked questions booklet for family pensioners. Both releases remain scheduled activities in the October 4 statement.
