Delhi police detained protesters near Jantar Mantar on October 3 as activists returned for a second day to demand Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged electoral-roll irregularities. ABP’s October 3 report describes activist Yogendra Yadav’s detention. Siasat separately reported demonstrators being taken away.

AISA president Neha Bora had called on supporters to return at 1 p.m. Lawyers Kapil Sibal and Prashant Bhushan joined the march, according to ABP.

The police notice reproduced by Siasat said restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita were in force and Saturday’s gathering was not authorised. Protesters asserted their right to peaceful assembly.

The accounts did not establish a final Saturday detention count. Figures of around 1,000 detainees concerned Friday and should not be treated as Saturday’s total.
