Nine people accused in the September 28 confrontation near Ujjain’s Shahi Masjid were sent to judicial custody until October 12 after appearing before a district court on September 30, according to Live Hindustan and Naidunia. The case concerns alleged stone-throwing and unrest during the removal of part of the mosque for road widening.
The court appearance followed the medical examinations covered in Asal Sach’s earlier report. Navbharat Times independently reported that nine accused were taken for examinations and then presented in court, which ordered them sent to jail. The remand order itself was not available for review. The allegations against each person remain to be tested in court.
By Wednesday evening, Naidunia reported that workers had removed two front domes and the upper section of the minaret. It described a phased operation using scaffolding, with labourers engaged by the mosque’s management committee under its agreement with the administration. This was a further stage of partial removal, not demolition of the whole mosque.
The administration links the road project to Simhastha 2028. NDTV’s September 30 report recalled Collector Roshan Kumar Singh’s account of the committee’s agreement, including alternative arrangements for affected shops, compensation under applicable rules and moving the minaret within the compound. These commitments do not establish that compensation or relocation has been completed.
