West Indies won the third and final one-day international against India by five wickets in New Chandigarh on October 3. Captain Shai Hope finished unbeaten on 162 as the visitors reached 352 for five in 48.2 overs. India still won the three-match series 2–1.
India had recovered from early trouble to post 351 for seven. KL Rahul made an unbeaten 129, Rohit Sharma scored 92 and Ruturaj Gaikwad contributed 57. Jayden Seales took three wickets for 62 runs for West Indies.
Hope’s innings contained 17 fours and three sixes. Amir Jangoo added 67 and Keemo Paul made 44, keeping the chase moving. West Indies completed the target with ten deliveries unused rather than leaving the result to the final over.
The result denied India a clean sweep at a venue hosting its first men’s ODI. October 3 reporting by The Indian Express and IANS identified the contrast: India’s batting recovery produced a large total, but its bowlers could not defend it against Hope’s sustained innings.
