The Indian Coast Guard and Gujarat's Anti-Terrorist Squad disclosed on September 30 that a joint operation had seized about 526 kilograms of heroin and methamphetamine from a vessel west of Lakshadweep. Officials put the estimated illicit-market value above ₹3,000 crore and said five Pakistani crew members had been detained.
The interception itself took place on September 25. The new development is the official disclosure and investigation update, reported by Onmanorama and other publications on September 30. It should not be read as a second seizure or an operation carried out that day.
The Coast Guard said sea and air surveillance had been used to locate and follow the vessel before officers boarded it. Officials described it as an Iranian dhow. The vessel, crew and seized material were taken to Mumbai for joint questioning and further legal proceedings.
ANI's report of the Gujarat Police account said investigators were examining a suspected network behind the consignment. The quantity, substances, nationality and valuation are official claims reported at this stage. The reviewed accounts did not provide a final court finding, laboratory report or response from the detained crew. A seizure announcement alone does not prove each person's criminal responsibility.
