Hardoi police said they arrested four people on October 4 and seized 14 kilograms of ganja and a car in an alleged drug-trafficking case. The district police’s dated press note says the operation involved Sursa police station personnel, the surveillance unit and the Special Operations Group. The arrests do not establish guilt.
The official release identifies the accused as Pankaj, Nitin, Shiva and Shalu, also known as Shalini. Three are from Sitapur district and one from Hardoi. The release expressly lists all four as arrested. PTI, quoting Superintendent of Police Ashok Kumar Meena, also reported four arrests after police stopped and searched a car during a checking operation.
A later Hindustan report, published at 10:49 p.m. IST, reported three arrests and said Shiva was being sought. That differs from the district police release and the SP’s account carried by PTI. The reason for the discrepancy is unclear.
Police recorded the case at Sursa police station as FIR 355/2026 under sections 8, 20, 25 and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Those provisions are the police’s stated basis for the case; the release does not establish that a court has examined the allegations or determined the role of each accused.
Investigators are questioning the accused about the reported consignment’s source, intended destination and other people allegedly involved, according to the SP’s account carried by PTI. No response from the accused or their lawyers, laboratory finding or subsequent court order was available in the material reviewed. The alleged network and individual roles remain under investigation.
