Two women died within hours of each other at Bihar’s Jamui Sadar Hospital on Sunday, October 4, prompting protests by relatives and an inquiry. The reports describe one death during pregnancy and another after delivery. Hospital and district officials said the circumstances were being investigated.
Relatives alleged delays in medical intervention and said a doctor assigned to night duty was unavailable. They protested at the hospital gate and demanded action. The causes of the deaths remain under examination, and no finding of negligence has been established.
The hospital’s deputy superintendent told The Times of India that action would follow if the allegation of absence from duty was confirmed. He said the matter was being investigated and that the families had not submitted a written complaint at the time of his statement.
District Magistrate Naveen Kumar told Jagran that a team had been formed to investigate the incident. Minister Shreyasi Singh visited the hospital and called for action against those found responsible. Aaj Tak quoted SDPO Deepti Monali as saying no FIR had yet been registered in either case and expert opinion was being sought to assess possible medical negligence.
