India’s food regulator announced on October 4 that it had directed Everest Food Products to recall an implicated batch of pre-packed cumin powder. In a separate action disclosed in the same statement, FSSAI said it had suspended the licence of West Bengal-based Creative Bakers and Confectioners with immediate effect over hygiene deficiencies.
Business Standard identified the recalled cumin powder as batch E080668761. The regulator’s account, also reported by PTI, says a sample collected at a Goa resort contained azoxystrobin and thiamethoxam residues above permitted limits. After the company was given an opportunity to appeal, a referral laboratory confirmed the unsafe classification. The action concerns the identified batch; the reviewed material does not announce a ban on all Everest products.
FSSAI directed Everest to keep recall records, report progress and take corrective measures. In the bakery case, it cited dirty production areas, pest-control failures, unsuitable storage and gaps in required food-safety records. The business was told to halt food-related operations for the suspension period.
October 4 is the verified public-announcement date; the original inspection, sampling and order dates were not established. The reviewed sources do not show that the recall is complete or provide a response from either company.
