Miyapur police registered a murder case after a postgraduate medical student was found dead in a Hyderabad hotel on October 2. The Times of India reported the development that night, including comments from inspector N. Jayaram. The family alleged murder, but the cause of death had not been established when the reports were published.
Investigators said the woman had arrived in Hyderabad on September 30 and met a male acquaintance. Police are seeking him after he reportedly left the hotel the following day. Telugu outlet Andhra Jyothy separately reported the family’s complaint and the search on October 3. His role remains under investigation.
Police traced the woman after her family reported being unable to contact her. Her body was sent for post-mortem examination. Those findings and other evidence are needed to establish what happened; registration of a murder case records the investigation, rather than proving the allegation or anyone’s guilt.
