Two migrant workers died after a borewell-drilling vehicle overturned onto a house in Varakkad, in Kasaragod district’s West Eleri, early on October 3. The Indian Express’s PTI report attributed the account to police. Manorama News independently reported the two deaths that morning.

Police said the vehicle lost control while descending a steep slope. The workers were from Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The family occupying the house escaped injury, according to the police account carried by PTI. The property was damaged; the available reports do not provide a completed engineering assessment of the road or vehicle.

Manorama reported that the bodies were taken to the district hospital in Kanhangad for further procedures. Its account and PTI differ on whether death occurred at the scene or was declared after hospital transfer, so that detail is not resolved here. Neither account establishes a final finding about mechanical failure, driver negligence or legal responsibility.
