Police took a man into custody on October 3 after four members of a family were killed in Madhya Pradesh's Anuppur district. PTI, IANS and Amar Ujala reported the deaths on Saturday, including that of a child who died during treatment. Police allege that the suspect attacked members of the household with a stick. His guilt has not been established by a court.

The reports also describe four injured people across a sequence of related assaults, including an earlier attack outside the household. Injured family members were taken to a hospital in Shahdol. Some early accounts gave a lower death toll before the child's death was reported. The later PTI and IANS reports both record four deaths.

IANS reported that investigators secured the scene and a forensic team collected evidence. Police are examining the circumstances and questioning the suspect; the motive remains under investigation. Names, detailed family relationships and the precise residential location have been omitted to protect children affected by the case. No subsequent remand order was available in the reports reviewed.
