The Enforcement Directorate searched eight premises on September 30 as part of a money-laundering investigation into alleged misuse of corporate social responsibility donations. PTI-Bhasha and the Free Press Journal reported searches in Maharashtra, West Bengal, Gujarat and Delhi-NCR, covering premises associated with trustees and intermediaries.
The agency suspects that some trusts were used to receive corporate contributions and return money to donors after retaining commissions. Its wider inquiry also examines whether healthcare projects and equipment purchases matched the amounts recorded in accounts. These are allegations attributed to investigators, not judicial findings against the organisations concerned.
The Free Press Journal and Moneycontrol's September 30 reports described an estimated ₹200 crore of funds routed through arrangements under examination. That figure is the reported scale of the money trail. It does not establish that the entire amount was stolen or diverted; determining the actual use of the funds remains part of the investigation.
Officers were examining financial records, invoices and electronic material. The case originated in a Mumbai police complaint registered in July. The reviewed accounts did not establish a fresh arrest or include a response from the people whose premises were searched. Searches alone do not prove the alleged offences.
