Uttar Pradesh police took Mohammad Arman from Gaya Central Jail on October 4 for proceedings in Prayagraj in the Umesh Pal murder case. Hindustan’s Gaya report places the departure on Sunday evening and quotes Senior Superintendent of Police Sushil Kumar confirming the transfer. NDTV separately reported that UP police had taken custody of him.

Arman is accused of involvement in the February 2023 killing of lawyer Umesh Pal and two police security personnel. He was already held in Bihar in another case. The Times of India reported that a Gaya court approved transit remand on October 1; Sunday’s transfer is a later procedural development, not a conviction.

NDTV reported that his family asked authorities to protect him and ensure that any punishment followed a court process. His lawyer, Lalit Kumar Gupta, had also raised concerns about his safety during transfer. Those concerns do not establish that police had threatened or harmed him.

Magadh Range Inspector General Vikas Vaibhav told NDTV that the administration was complying with the court’s order. The remand order was not independently reviewed. The reports anticipated a Prayagraj court appearance, but did not confirm that it had already occurred.
