Kolkata’s Hare Street police arrested Roshan Sau in the investigation into an alleged assault on lawyers at Bankshall Court. The Times of India and Bartaman reported on October 4 that he was produced before a court the previous day and remanded to police custody until October 12.
The Times of India said the confrontation followed alleged egg-throwing at a YouTuber during a court appearance, with lawyers assaulted after objecting. It reported an earlier arrest in the case. Those allegations and arrests do not establish the responsibility of any accused.
Both newspapers reported that Chief Judicial Magistrate Payel Banerjee sought a report on the investigation. Bartaman also described lawyers’ protest action at Sealdah and Howrah courts on October 3. No response from Sau or his lawyer, or original custody order, was available in the reviewed material.
