Kolkata police arrested a man after two women alleged that he touched them inappropriately in a hotel lobby early on October 4. The Indian Express and two Bengali newspapers reported the arrest, citing police accounts of the complaint and investigation.
According to Bartaman, a written complaint led police to register a case. Investigators examined the lobby’s CCTV footage, the complainant identified the suspect, and police tracked him to a room in the hotel. The Indian Express separately quoted a senior officer confirming the arrest and saying the investigation was continuing.
The reviewed reports contain no response from the accused or his lawyer and establish no court finding on the allegations. Arrest does not establish guilt. The complainants’ names and potentially identifying details are withheld.
