Police in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district are investigating a child’s death after her family submitted a written complaint alleging sexual assault and blackmail by an adult man. The child was found dead on Friday, October 2. Police sent her body for a post-mortem examination.
Anandabazar reported the investigation late on October 2. Sangbad Pratidin’s October 3 report independently described the complaint and police inquiry. Both said no arrest had been reported when they filed.
The family alleges that private images and threats were used to intimidate the child. These allegations remain under investigation. The reviewed reports do not establish a medical finding, the charges recorded or responsibility for the death. The complaint is not a finding of guilt.
