NITI Aayog member Rajiv Gauba called for regulation proportionate to risk at the Kautilya Economic Conclave in New Delhi on October 3. PIB’s account that evening says he urged policymakers to protect consumers and market stability while allowing room for investment and innovation.
Gauba argued that fast-changing technology and businesses operating across sectors require better coordination between regulators. He called for specialised expertise, clearer responsibilities and scrutiny of whether additional rules are necessary, rather than overlapping demands on the same activity.
Business Standard’s October 3 report also highlighted his call to pair regulatory autonomy with transparent decisions, review procedures and accountability. His proposals describe how oversight should develop; the address itself establishes no new exemption, compliance deadline or binding regulatory reform.
