The Commission for Air Quality Management disclosed on October 4 that its inspection of Delhi’s Inner and Outer Ring Road had found 17 cases involving visible road dust and accumulated construction and demolition waste. The Environment Ministry’s release, posted at 3:04 p.m. IST, dates the inspection to October 3; it does not give the inspection hours.
Four flying-squad teams examined 25 stretches covering about 35 kilometres of roads under Delhi’s Public Works Department. Akashvani’s October 4 report also describes the findings and the call for corrective action. The 17 cases are findings across the inspected stretches, not a stated count of fines, prosecutions or completed clean-ups.
The commission said Delhi PWD and other relevant agencies were being directed to prioritise dust-control measures, regular sweeping and removal of accumulated debris. It warned that passing vehicles can lift roadside dust back into the air and said inspections under Operation Clean Air would continue across Delhi-NCR.
These are the regulator’s reported findings. The reviewed material does not provide an independent inspection of every location, a PWD response or measured pollution reductions following the directions. October 4 is the verified disclosure date, rather than a claim that the inspection occurred that day.
