The Commission for Air Quality Management announced changes to Delhi-NCR’s Graded Response Action Plan on September 29. The Environment Ministry’s PIB release, posted that evening, says the commission approved the revision at its September 28 meeting. The announcement updates the rules for responding to worsening air quality.
Actions concerning diesel generator sets and BS-IV or older buses from NCR and adjoining states move from Stage II to Stage I. Under Stage III, restrictions on BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers extend to Sonipat alongside the previously covered high-traffic districts. The Pioneer reported these changes on September 29; the Times of India’s September 30 report also cited CAQM technical member S. D. Attri.
The revised framework removes the essential-commodities exemption for BS-IV and older light and medium goods vehicles at Stage III, and for trucks at Stage IV. Separately, the commission widened web-based dust-control monitoring to eligible construction projects beyond municipal limits. The existing threshold of plots measuring at least 500 square metres remains unchanged.
Akashvani’s September 29 report confirms the revised plan has 48 actions across four stages. GRAP measures apply through the relevant stage and implementation orders; announcing a revised schedule is not evidence that every stage is currently active. The reviewed announcement does not supply a current AQI reading or establish a blanket ban on all buses or private cars.
