October 2 reports in The Tribune and The Statesman said Delhi approved a Phase-I reserved-forest notification for 277.56 acres of Northern Ridge.
The proposal invokes Section 20 of the Indian Forest Act. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta described legal protection as supporting long-term conservation.
She said subsequent work would cover boundaries, habitat management and community participation. Approval is reported here; completed gazette publication has not been independently verified.
